Gynecology - area of clinical medicine which subject of studying are anatomico-physiological, physical and mental features of a female organism during the various age periods, diseases of female sexual system, methods of their preventive maintenance, diagnostics and treatment.

As independent section consider gynecology of children's and youthful age which studies physiology, a pathology of development and disease of female sexual system in the age period from a birth till 18 years.
The physiological and pathological processes occuring in an organism of the woman during pregnancy, sorts and in the postnatal period, concern to area of obstetrics. Great value development of questions of physiology of sorts and has problems of management of sorts, psychoprophylaxis pains at sorts, preventive maintenance of postnatal complications.

At the moment it is possible to consider as a new direction in gynecology the reconstructively-plastic operations which have been directed on conservation of bodies of reproductive system. Numerous clinical and experimental researches on improvement of comfort of a life of the woman in all the age periods find the increasing reflection in an expert. The same objectives are pursued microinvasive surgery which has received the greatest progress in this area of medicine. Gynecologic diseases can be divided into three greater groups arbitrarily:

* inflammatory diseases
* the diseases caused by infringements in incretory system
* hyperplastic, dystrophic and tumoral diseases

All of them are accompanied by the specific symptoms most typical for pathological secretion, infringements of period, sexual functions, a pain, etc. Only the doctor can correctly estimate physiological and pathological conditions of an organism, is correct diagnose gynecologic disease, female urogenital diseases and pick up corresponding treatment. Besides the gynecologist helps the woman with planning family and selection of contraception.

The gynecology is engaged in treatment not only diseases of reproductive system, and the patient as a whole, with accompanying extragenital pathology. It is connected by that at each patient disease proceeds differently, depends on many factors (the general condition of an organism, a mental condition, diseases of other bodies and systems, etc.). Therefore the approach in any case should be individual.
